Alexander Godson was born and brought up in Chelsea, London. He was educated through the English boarding school system. Growing up in Chelsea, with The Houses of Parliament just down the road, was a place where fashion, art, music and politics merged.

Alexander attended fashion school in the City of London where he learnt the principles of hairdressing with an emphasis on fashion. Alexander had a strong desire to mix traditional principles with modern concepts.

At 19, Alexander began his training in top hair salons in Chelsea where he was exposed to well-known actors, politicians, artists and rock stars. His traditional English upbringing combined with a modern outlook, made him a perfect match for the Chelsea salons. Alexander’s rapid development of skill and passion for hair, afforded him the opportunity to work the Paris Fashion Show at 21 years of age.

At 25, Alexander’s experience and curiousity for new challenges led him to Los Angeles. He soon realized the demand for English hairstylists was prevalent throughout the U.S. On a weekend visit to San Francisco, Alexander felt immediately at home in the midst of the fog and the quaint neighborhoods, reminiscent of the boroughs of London, and felt compelled to move. With his cultured background and his unique approach to hairdressing, he attracted a strong and diverse following within a few years. In March 2002, the Alexander G. hair salon was established. Alexander thought it important to create his own hair salon where the stylists and environment would reflect his philosophy. Alexander G. provides an atmosphere and experience reflective of English hairdressing.
